The 100th anniversary
Ravenna is worldwide known as the city of mosaics, home to eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Here, in the heart of the historic city centre, in the prestigious Rasponi Palace, the centenary of Viglienzone was celebrated, in the presence of past and present employees. A dutiful act of gratitude to the memory of the founder, Luigi Silvio Viglienzone, but also a significant day of discussion on the Group’s past, present and future.
From the testimonies of the speakers – first and foremost past president Guido Macera, who has led the company in Ravenna since the 1970s – the common values clearly emerged. Viglienzone’s centenary was identified first and foremost with the ability and strength of the people who work there; with the role of the company’s history within the history of Italy and Europe, in a long excursus not devoid of significant moments for the Italian economy as well; with the recounting of experiences, crucial moments and anecdotes that occurred over a century. All this, of course, with the prospect of further growth. By growing more and more international, in terms of presence and operating locations: Viglienzone has offices in Hungary, Russia, Ukraine, Argentina and Brazil. By further developing national and international rail logistics, which has Venice as its logistics ‘hub’ and is one of the company’s strong points. And by increasingly differentiating its services, processes and strategic investments, in order to progressively expand its areas of activity.
If Guido Macera told the story, often with first-person memories, and not without some shared moments of emotion, the description of the present and future was entrusted to those who lead the Group today: his children Eleonora and Federico Macera; and the managers of Ravenna and Venice offices, Davide Busani and Roberto Mafolino. All agreed on the determination to grow, together, following the values that have distinguished the first century of the Group’s history: commitment, quality, seriousness, strength.
